You are not going to be able to completely eliminate chewing behavior in puppies, but you can stop them from chewing on your couch, wall, table, and hands. Be sure that your puppy has plenty of puppy friendly toys to chew on. My favorite puppy chew toys are those that you can fill with food and freeze. The frozen toy will be soothing to your puppies gums while they are teething.

 

When you adopt an adult dog please take your new friend directly home. If you have another dog at home introduce in a neutral area, not inside of the house, and take them on a nice long walk together. By introducing the dogs in a neutral area you will decrease the likelihood of your current dog becoming territorial of your home.

Whenever you get a new dog you should enroll in training classes. This will help strengthen the bond between the two of you and help you establish some ground rules for your new dog to abide by.
